Olympic champion in cross-country skiing Tatyana Sorina said that she expected to win a medal in individual races at the 2022 Games.

At the Beijing Olympics, Sorina won a gold medal in the relay.

“I left the last Olympics unsatisfied. I was preparing for a personal medal that season, but I never reached peak form. I don’t even remember where I finished in the personal races. In the relay, we initially had a big chance: a month and a half before the Games, we won the relay at the World Cup in Lillehammer and roughly understood that the composition would remain the same, and therefore the chances would not become less.

But, of course, I wanted a personal medal. But it didn’t happen. She came closest in the mass start, but remained fifth. Therefore, I left in tears, with the intention of winning a medal in four years in Italy, to prepare for this Olympics. And the situation was such that from next year we didn’t perform anywhere,” RT quotes Sorina.

Sorina is 31 years old, she is a silver medalist at the 2021 World Championships, a five-time Russian champion.
