The President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, said that the time has not yet come to cancel the recommendations to remove Russian athletes from tournaments due to the situation in Ukraine.
– Our position on sanctions and recommendations is known, I see no reason to remind. We are compelled to accept these recommendations, but we must not forget our main function, which is to unite. The International Swimming Federation (FINA) follows the recommendations, it is not yet time to withdraw them, but we cannot forget the dilemma – we are a global organization, sport should unite. At the same time, in sports, everyone must obey the same rules. We need to follow the development of the situation, what is happening. And as I said at the ceremony in Beijing, we need to give the world a chance.
People are looking for a unifying force, and one of them, if not the most obvious one, may be the Olympic Movement,” Bach said at the FINA congress in Budapest.
At the end of February, the IOC recommended that international sports federations not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete because of the situation in Ukraine.

Russian Daniil Serohvostov finished second (lag – 26.9 seconds; 3 misses), the top three was rounded out by another Russian representative Eduard Latypov (+54.4; 4 misses).
