The International Ski Federation (FIS) has extended the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions under its auspices until the end of the summer season, according to a release on the official website of the organization.
The decision was made on Tuesday at the first meeting of the newly elected FIS Council in Zurich.
– The current policy that Russian and Belarusian athletes cannot compete in FIS competitions outside of their countries will remain in place until the end of the summer season. The Council will return to this topic in the autumn as the situation in Ukraine develops, the FIS said in a statement.
In March, FIS followed the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and suspended the representatives of Russia and Belarus from international tournaments until the end of the 2021/22 season.
