The decision of the International Ski Federation (FIS) to extend the suspension of Russian athletes until the fall will not be appealed, said Yuri Borodavko, head coach of the Russian cross-country skiing team.
FIS on Tuesday announced the extension of the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions under its auspices until the end of the summer season.
– The FIS decision did not surprise anyone – everyone was ready for it. It was expected and predictable, so everyone reacted quite calmly to this. As for the possible contestation of the decision, it will not be challenged. We will wait for the final decision, which will be made at the congress in late September – early October, Borodavko said in an interview with the Championship.
In March, FIS followed the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and announced that representatives of Russia and Belarus would not be allowed to participate in international tournaments until the end of the 2021/22 season.
