The chances of Russian athletes to participate in the 2024 Olympics are assessed as unlikely, said Craig Reedy, member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), former head of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
– The qualifying period officially established by the International Federations and the IOC begins. There is a real problem for the federations, which act on clear instructions, that they will not invite Russians and Belarusians to participate in their events.
Therefore, at first glance, it is unlikely that any of them will be able to qualify, except in three sports that acted differently. And can they even qualify? I’m not sure, Reedy is quoted as saying. The Guardian.
Earlier, the head Thomas Bach said that recommendations for the removal of Russian athletes from participation in international competitions are not yet subject to revision.
The 2024 Summer Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
