The International Biathlon Union (IBU) and the biathlon family regret the death of ex-biathlete Igor Malinovsky and express their condolences to the family and relatives of the athlete, IBU President Olle Dalin told Match TV.
The Robinson helicopter, operated by 25-year-old Malinovsky, took off on July 16 along the route Milkovo – Valley of Geysers – Uzon Volcano Caldera. Later, the helicopter stopped communicating. On Sunday, the vehicle was found burnt out by Kamchatka rescuers. The Russian Emergencies Ministry confirmed that none of the passengers survived.
