Paris Olympics under threat due to high inflation in France – media
The organizing committee of the Olympic Games in Paris and the French government faced serious problems two years before the start of the competition, according to AFP.
According to the source, one of the main problems of the organizers is inflation in France, due to which the company Solideo, which is responsible for the construction of Olympic facilities, increased the budget to 4 billion euros, requesting additional funds from the French government. It is also noted that the organizing committee of the Games has not filled all of its main sponsorship slots.
It is reported that the two metro lines that are supposed to link the Olympic venues with the center of Paris will not be completed on time. France is also facing a shortage of bus drivers. Transport problems jeopardize the safety of visitors to the 2024 Games, France risks repeating the sad experience of organizing the 2022 Champions League final in Paris, which led to riots.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is extremely concerned about the late start of the organization of the anti-doping system for the International Doping Testing Agency (ITA), which is also an obligation of the organizing committee of the Games in Paris.
The Summer Olympic Games in Paris will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
