The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) and the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) signed a cooperation agreement, reports agency press office.

It is noted that the signing of the agreement confirmed the firm commitment of the leadership of the RRF to the position of zero tolerance for doping, now the RBU is among the leaders in the RUSADA rating of federations.

The signing of the agreement was attended by RUSADA Director General Veronika Loginova, President of the RRF Viktor Maigurov, Head of the RRF Media Service Sergey Averyanov and Anti-Doping Coordinator of the RRF Oksana Makarova.

“Over the past two seasons, the RRF has taken a big step forward in anti-doping work, in which we place an emphasis on the prevention of negative factors through education, the promotion of clean sport and zero tolerance for the use of prohibited substances and methods. The RRF is successfully implementing an anti-doping education plan, according to which more than 830 athletes and staff members received appropriate training in 2021, and about 500 more people from January to May 2022. We have developed and approved an entire educational anti-doping strategy for 2022-2026. On anti-doping issues, we are also in close contact with the International Biathlon Union (IBU) and the Biathlon Integrity Unit (BIU), as this work is one of the key and ongoing criteria, the fulfillment of which will allow the RBU to become a full member of the International Biathlon Union again.

We have also established absolutely working relations with RUSADA, we are allies in the anti-doping fight, and today’s signing of the agreement is a symbol of the fact that we intend to continue shoulder to shoulder in the fight for clean sport, – said RBU President Viktor Maygurov.

RRF is the developer of the anti-doping promo campaign “I/We are for clean biathlon”.

Biathlon Integrity Unit is a body that investigates cases that undermine the integrity of biathlon, including doping cases.

Earlier, the IBU suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions under the auspices of the organization against the backdrop of the current situation in Ukraine.
