Olympic champion in cross-country skiing in the classical relay in Beijing and Match TV columnist Veronika Stepanova promised the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach to train hard so that he would present her with an award at the upcoming Games.

– I promise you, Mr. Bach, that I will train with tripled energy so that it is you, and no one else, who will give me a medal at future Games! I don’t know about you, but it will give me special pleasure to see your face at the same time, ”Stepanova wrote in her own Telegram channel.

So Stepanova commented on Bach’s statement, which she cited in the same post. It says: “… As a world organization, we must remember that less than 50 countries of the world have imposed sanctions against Russia. That is, we have about 150 National Olympic Committees within the IOC, whose governments have not imposed any sanctions against Russia. And we are asked: why do you react this way? Just because they are in Europe? What have you done about Yemen? How about Afghanistan? And Ethiopia, Mali? We must see this worldview as well. We must not succumb to all these political sanctions and political boycotts…”

In February, the IOC Executive Board recommended that international federations prevent Russians and Belarusians from participating in competitions due to the events in Ukraine.
