Four-time Olympic biathlon champion Alexander Tikhonov expressed confidence that the Russians would definitely be returned access to international competitions.
So he reacted to the statement made on August 14 by the former head of the commission of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Richard McLaren. Canadian lawyer urged to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete
– I have already said repeatedly that they will come to the conclusion that Russians must be allowed to participate in international competitions. This is television, this is competition. Who can compete in the international arena? Russia!
They will come and crawl on their knees! All doors will be open to us, and they will still apologize! In addition, I would sue those federations that decided to remove the Russians. And don’t be shy about it! Tikhonov told Gazeta.Ru.
Earlier, the honorary president of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), Alexander Zhukov, said that the head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, should follow the example of McLaren and declare the need for Russians to be admitted to international competitions.
