Skier Nepryaeva said that she didn’t really want to run for “medals” at domestic tournaments
Olympic champion in cross-country skiing Natalya Nepryaeva said she was upset about the possible lack of prize money at domestic competitions next season.
– The main start is the alternative world championship. I will rely on it.
The lack of prize money at domestic Russian starts for skiers is unpleasant. I don’t really want to run for medals. God forbid, if there are sponsors. I would be very happy about this, ”Nepryaeva told Match TV.
– Do you have any demotivation due to the fact that the next season will have to be spent inside Russia? Or is our skiing competitive enough to keep progressing?
– There is a little. But I try to fight it.
The International Ski Federation (FIS) suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in tournaments under its auspices due to the situation in Ukraine.
The first stage of the Russian Cup in cross-country skiing will take place on November 18–21 in the Republic of Khakassia.
