Both teams struggled to start the game, with more mistakes than successes and offensive runs that took up a lot of time. The Steelers did not score in the first quarterin which Jacksonville managed just one field goal, adding another six minutes into the first half.
Late in the second quarter, however, the first touchdown came after Kenny Pickett came in: after a long offensive drive with several completions, the Steelers went up 7-6 when Pickett found Benny Snell Jr. wide open to go into the end zone.

Offense ineffectiveness returned in the second half, with Mason Rudolph as Pittsburgh’s quarterback: No offense scored in the third quarter, but Jacksonville got two points to go ahead when His defense forced a safety from the Steelers.
Midway through the fourth quarter, Pittsburgh turned the ball over and, after a fumble at midfield, Jacksonville drove in a touchdown with a CJ Beathard won 15-7.

The Steelers quickly got back into the game with one Nick Simba field goal from 38 yardsafter another offensive streak slowed by a lack of passing accuracy.
On the ensuing drive, Jacksonville could have gone for the win, but Justin Lane intercepted a pass 14 yards from his own end zone.

The Steelers’ offense started essentially in the middle of the field, and after four complete passes by Rudolph, it ended with a Rudolph – Tyler Snead touchdown connection for 16-15 less than two minutes to go, with a failed two-point conversion attempt.

Jacksonville was on third-and-12 at the start of the final drive, but was saved by a 21-yard pass from EJ Perry to Kevin Austin Jr., which, along with another 14-yard pass to Jeff Cotton, set the stage for Ryan Santoso missed 57-yard field goallooking for the Jaguars win.
In his debut, Pickett completed 13 of 15 passes he attempted and added 95 yards as a passer, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
Mason Rudolph completed 17 of 21 passes he attempted and had 127 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.
