Olympic silver medalist Alexander Enbert shared his opinion on whether Russian figure skaters will be allowed to participate in the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy.
At the end of February, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that international sports federations prevent Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in competitions due to the situation in Ukraine. Many federations agreed with this recommendation.
– We, the skaters, discuss this topic among ourselves, but it is difficult to express an expert opinion on whether it is realistic to return to the Olympics or not, because there are too many variables and too many complexities. All athletes in any case hope for a speedy return to the world clip – and everyone is motivated by this.
I will join the hope that soon everything will fall into place, and sport will become a sport in the full sense of the word and will not depend on any other factors, ”Gazeta.ru quotes Enbert as saying.
