The International Ice Hockey Federation (IHF) has approved the addition of six additional players to each of the teams that will compete in the 2022 Beijing Olympics, reports Darren Dreger of the TSN network.
The formations will include 25 players in addition to the 6 additional ones who will be able to play in the event of an injury or a case of COVID-19. Dreger notes that these are essentially reserve squads like those used in the NHL for the past two years due to the pandemic.
The NHL and the Association of Players of the NHL (AJLNH) decided last month that players from the Bettman circuit will not participate in the Olympics.
The Olympics will take place from February 4 to 20.
