Athinaikos- OFN Ionia 20-36: In the final against PAOK OFI

OFNI beat Athinaikos 36:20 in the second semi-final of the women’s handball cup and will meet PAOK in the final on Sunday (June 2, 4:00 p.m.).

For the 14th time in its history, Nea Ionia qualified for the final of the Women’s Cup, beating Athinaikos 36-20 in the 2nd semi-final of the 18th Final Four to be played in Chalkida.

OFN Ionia will tomorrow (06/02) claim his 6th trophy against the defending champions for three consecutive years PAOK. The game starts at 4 p.m. and will be broadcast live on public television (ertflix).

The game: In the first minutes, the two teams were tied (2:2), with Nea Ionia, with a three-goal difference (2:5) in 6′, getting away with a 3-0 streak. Athinaikos reduced the lead to 3-5 with Globarevic in 10′ but couldn’t get closer despite chances and even lost two penalties.

Taking advantage of Athinaikos’ failure, Nea Ionia reached +6 (3-9) in 16′ and 6-13 with Frangou in 22′ with the highest quality, while then extending their lead to 8-17, which was also the result of the halftime.

In the second half, Nea Ionia, much better, managed to impose their rhythm and achieve security differences that allowed them to maintain their strengths in view of the final. The final 36-20 was loose and fair for Sasa Zivulovic’s team.
