Handball Premier: Diomedis is back on the road to success for PAOK and is on the rise
PAOK defeated Vrilissia 32-23 and returned to victory in the Handball-Premier, while Diomedes defeated Argos Drama 34-32 and escaped to fourth place.
PAOK overtook the homeland of Vrilissi and won the final of the 1st round of the Handball Premiers by 32-23, which puts them in 3rd place in the overall standings with 17 points.
From halftime onwards, the two teams surprisingly had the “two-headed” north with the home side in the first part when they led 5:4 (10′) with a 4-0 run, in the 15th minute 9:7, 12 -9 in the 17th’ and 13-11 in the 20′. PAOK reacted and took the lead (13-14) at 25′ and 14-15 at 30′
In the second half, the guests started stormy with a 5:0 run to 14:19 in the 37th minute, while the continuation was similar, since the difference in the 57th minute even reached 11 goals (21:32), before the final result (23-32).
With an important win over Drama by a score of 34-32, Diomedis ended the first round of the Handball Premiers and remained fourth in the standings with 14 points, widening the gap to Dramani who stayed at 11.
Despite Betzilali and Tsakalou being sent off with three and two minutes remaining, the Argos team got what they wanted, leading consistently throughout the game and showing composure in the final minutes as the visitors upped their pressure on the defence.
AESH Pylaias defeated the handball premier HANTH on the 11th match day with 34:17 and returned to a clearly positive balance after three defeats in a row.
On the contrary, for HANTH it was the tenth defeat in a row and they have to present a significantly improved face in the second round of the championship in order to be able to claim relegation.
Manoloudis, Karagiozopoulos and Alexandridis each scored seven goals for the winner, who tied for the same seven points as Ionikos, Zafiirakis, with that victory.
In 6th place in the handball premier ranking with 10 points – together with Doukas – Aeropos Edessa prevailed in impressive form and after the “double” in Drama confidently with 38-29 against Ionian Affidea.
The home side had a terrific day with Kostakidis (10 goals) and Koukoutsidis (8 goals) scoring nearly half of their side’s goals, while Ionikos, who were struggling in defence, again had Koukoulas (8 goals) as their top scorer.
