Women’s Handball Cup: PAOK beat Anagennisi, Nea Ionia also in the final
PAOK and Nea Ionia form the final pair of the Greek Cup in women’s handball after defeating Anagennisi and AEK respectively in the semifinals on Saturday.
PAOK Mateco won 29-28 her Renaissance of Arta in his 1st semi-final 19. Final Four from women’s cup which takes place in Igoumenitsa and has qualified for the final for the 9th time in its history.
The Dikephalos of the North will win their 5th consecutive cup and 7th overall cup in their history against OFN Ionia on Sunday at 17:00 CEST.
The game was hard fought, both teams were level on points until the end and decided in detail.
As a multiple winner of the institution with 10 conquests, the Arta team has put in a lot of effort despite the big underdog. He was even unlucky to lose Eleni Prokopidou early (21st) with a red card for a hard foul on Hatziparasidou, but still found the mental reserves to turn around -3 (4:7) and 12:12 and 13:13 to play in the 25′ with Mournou. PAOK scored twice to make it 13-15, but Mournou equalized again in the air to score at half-time (15-15).
In the second half, PAOK had a small lead when Arta overtook for the first time in the game with a penalty from Skara to make it 23-22 in the 45th and 24-23 in the 46th minute.
PAOK reacted and turned the game around with a 4-0 run, reaching 24:27 with Zygoura and Hatziparasidou in the 52nd minute and managing to keep the lead until the final and Vransic’s crucial goals for the 28:29.
Noula (5 goals) and Mournou (7 goals) played a great game for Anagennisi while Hatziparasidou (8 goals) was PAOK’s top scorer.

THE OFN Ionia enforced 28-19 by AEK in the 2nd semi-final and qualified for the 15th time in its history in the finals of the institution, with the Kepesidou sisters leading with Magda with 14 interventions in 31 shots (45%) and Nikolina with 10 goals.
Saša Zibulović’s team will win its 6th trophy after 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2018 and 11th trophy in its history.
The game was tight in the first half, AEK was close to goal (11-13), but in the second Nea Ionia took advantage of the qualitative difference and the level of the squad separating the two teams and managed to reach +7 (13-20) in the 35th minute and 10 (15-25) in the 43rd minute sealed qualification and advanced to the finals 19-28.
