PAOK defeated Pioneer Nea Ionia
PAOK defeated Nea Ionia 21-18 in the indoor game of Mikras in the 18th and final game of A1 women’s handball to take second place in the championship.
PAOK won the big derby of the A1 women’s last day of play when they beat Nea Ionia 21-18 at the “Home of Handball” in Mikra.
With Serbia goalkeeper Katarina Tomasevic making her PAOK debut, the hosts forced Nea Ionia to their first domestic defeat of the year.
Regardless of the result, Nea Ionia finished first in the regular season standings and will have home advantage in the playoffs. In the semifinals, the Greek Cup winners meet Artas Renaissance.
PAOK comes second and meets Pylaia in the semifinals.
In the compulsory phase of the game, the two teams separated at 53:30 with 18:18. In the last six and a half minutes, PAOK managed to keep Na Ionia scoreless and score three goals to reach the final with a score of 21:18.
The negative point of the game was the red and blue card exclusions of Hatziparasidou and Stougiannidou at 9:10 of the game. As the referees noted on the match sheet, “Hatziparasidou kicked Stougiannidou out of phase and she retaliated with a punch to the former’s chest”. The cards of the two athletes were confiscated and now the sports judge decides on their punishment.

The curtain fell on the women’s A1 regular season in Vasilikos Indoors when Artas Renaissance defeated Orfea Sourotis 20-31.
After 18 games, Anagennisi finished fourth to secure their place in the playoffs, where they meet Nea Ionia at home disadvantage. On the contrary, Orpheas Sourotis completed his maiden voyage in the upper class and will compete in the A2 women’s class from the new season, as he was second to last in the table.

Pylaia ended her regular-season commitments in the A1 Women’s Championship with a 35-30 win over Panorama.
Regardless of the result, Pylaia finished third and will face runners-up PAOK in the semifinals of the championship. Panorama took fifth place.

Local GAS and AOAOD Korydallos finished this year’s competitive action at Kamateros Indoor Stadium.
In the last A1 women’s competition, Kamaterou’s team won 24-22 and took 7th place in the final standings, while Korydallos finished 8th and retained the category.
