Diomedes – AEK 22-23: Thriller qualification with penalty in dead time for the Union after the exam video

AEK prevailed 23-22 against Diomedis in Argos thanks to a well-timed injury-time penalty from Rogulski, revealed after viewing the video. Union has qualified for the finals and will play against Olympiakos.

The ticket for the final of the handball premiere was secured by AEK, who beat Diomedis 22:23 in the indoor game in Nea Kios and doubled their victories against Argites.

The match was a real derby up to the last second, with lead changes and a lot of passion. At 56:50 Diomedis took the lead with 22:21 thanks to a goal by Tsigaridas. AEK drew against Madalinic with 59:52. After a time-out by Giorgos Zaravina, Tzibulas tried unsuccessfully to score in the air and Matskevich blocked the ball.

Landing in the six-yard box, the Diomedis player collided with the AEK goalkeeper, who hit Tzibulas in the face with his elbow trying to pass.

After viewing the video, the referees red carded Naskos-Haritsos Tzibulas for interfering with his shot, awarded penalties in favor of AEK and penalized Matskevic with a two-minute penalty. The penalty was taken by Rogulski in injury time and led to the final score of 22:23.

Thus, in the final of the championship, AEK and Olympiacos face each other, with the home field advantage belonging to Union, which took first place in the regular season.

The finals series begins on May 13th or 14th and the title of champion will be decided based on the three wins.

The referees wrote the following on the match report: “1) In the 59:59 minute of the game, the A-team athlete Tzibulas Grigorios was sent off with a red card in accordance with Article 8:10c for interfering with a goalkeeper’s throw.

2) During the stoppage and with the game not over, AEK’s agent, Mr. Papahartofylis Efstathios, with one second left, entered the field from the stands and addressed the referees and protested violently, telling them the Words “shame on” you said”.
