AEK Men’s Handball: Acquisition of Haris Mallios
The AEK men’s handball team announced the acquisition of national team captain Haris Malliou.
AEK player for the new season will be Haris Mallios. The 35-year-old playmaker is expected to significantly strengthen Union next season.

“AEK is very pleased to announce the start of its collaboration with Haris Mallios!
The 35-year-old (08.06.1987) playmaker, 1.82 m tall, is the captain of our national team that qualified for EURO 2024 and is one of the most important athletes in the history of Greek handball. Mallios signed a contract for the new season and joined the club’s men’s handball team.
He started his career with Panhellenios in 2005 and moved to Argos with Diomedes in 2010. He left Greece for the first time in 2012 to compete with HF Springe in Germany, while returning to Diomedis the following season.
In 2014 he went to Germany again on behalf of the Stralsunder HV, where he played for two years. In 2016 he moved to HSG Kaiserslautern. In the 2017/18 season he played in Turkey, specifically for Nilüfer Belediyespor and in the 2018/19 season for Batman Belediyespor, also in Turkey.
In 2019 he came to Greece for OSFP/Omilos Xini and was transferred to Kosovan team Besa Famgas in the 2020/21 season. From 2021 to last January he played for Diomedis, while last semester he played handball for France’s Nancy..
