Nea Ionia triumphs in the “Greek Civil War” of the EHF European Cup, hopes for AESCH Pylaia, disqualification for Panorama

New Ionia defeated Arta 32-20 in the first Greek Civil War between them and has a big advantage in qualifying for the 3rd round of the EHF European Cup. AESH Pylaia took the first step and said goodbye to the Panorama organization.

Nea Ionia was the big winner of the Greek “Civil War” in the 2nd round of the EHF European Cup after a 34:20 win against Renaissance Arta in Athens.

The two teams will face each other again tomorrow (6pm) at the Nea Ionia Indoor Stadium, with the home team having taken a big lead towards qualification.

Management for AESH Pylias

AESH Pylaias took the first step towards qualifying for the 3rd round of the EHF European Women’s Cup by defeating Kercheng of Luxembourg 24-21 at the “Home of Handball”. The two teams met again on Sunday (01/10) at 2:00 p.m. in the same stadium.

Andria Taki with 8/17 (47%) and Kostopoulou, Trohidou, Koukmisi (6 goals each) were the top scorers of the Pylaia team.

“Of course the job could have been made easier, we missed a lot of shots from 6 meters. On the other hand, it was the first official game of the season and there was reason to be concerned.”

Winning the European Cup is always important, especially considering we have a completely new team. Tomorrow is another game, we are not thinking about +3, we should rest both mentally and physically in the time we have.” commented Pylaia technician Giorgos Vakalis.

Panorama said goodbye with a second defeat

Meanwhile, dsecond defeat, this time with 31-29 against Mlinotest Idovchina met Panorama in the 2nd round of the EHF European Cup in the “Home of Handball” and combined with the 40-26 of the first game, the Slovenian team advanced to the next round.
