Montenegro – Greece 33-25: Loss and disqualification for the national team
The national team paid some gaps in their game, losing 33-25 to Montenegro and missing out on the final stages of the Handball World Championship.
In Podgorica, the beautiful journey of the men’s national team to the 2023 World Cup was halted after defeating the national team of Montenegro 33:25.
Our national team has come a long way in the last 18 years and at the same time is as close as any other team to qualifying for the final stages of a major event.
In the impressive course she went through, she won 9 of her 10 matches, losing only the last one to the 6,000-seat Moraca sports center.
Our national team was underdogs against Bosnia, but also against Montenegro, but the national team overcame the crowning glory of the great victory in Chalkida with a consistent 25:23 in the first game between the two teams.
All along the route, the Greek team had many problems with failures and these continued today as the already serious absence of centre-back Petros Kandylas was compounded by that of Vangelis Arabatzis, who felt pain in his Achilles tendon during the warm-up and was unable to do so at all played, unexpectedly changed the plans of the technical staff.
