Details about the defeat of PAOK with 27-26 from Linz and everything for the qualification for the rematch
PAOK lost to Linz in Austria 26:27, but in the rematch in Mikra on Saturday (October 21st) they have the chance to pull off an upset and qualify.
For Game 1 of the second round of the EHF European Cup, PAOK traveled to Austria, where they played against HC Linz AG on Saturday evening, October 14th and lost 27:26.
In the first half, PAOK received significant offensive help from their district, who took over the task of scoring goals. The first quarter of the game was very fast-paced, both teams scored several goals, but HC Linz was ahead 10-5.
Then PAOK responded and gradually reduced the score, with Papageorgious Crescendo (3 goals in a row) bringing the difference to two goals, 13-11. The Austrians took advantage of the two two-minute throws against Nikolaidis and Botskarev in the final minutes and took a four-goal lead at 16:12, a result that was also final for the first half.
In the second half, Linz was ahead 17:14 in the first few minutes, but Kalomiiros and Papazoglou showed excellent offensive performance and helped Dikefalos reduce the score to 21:19 at the crucial moment. PAOK continued their excellent defensive work and found solutions in attack, especially from their own area, and thus achieved the difference within a goal distance of 26:25. Hamzic increased the score to 27:25, but Bochkarev scored on the last attack of the game to make the final score 27:26, leaving the scoresheet for the second leg in Mikra open.
The rematch in Mikra is scheduled for Saturday, October 21st at 6:00 p.m.
