Paralyzed ex-hockey player came out

Former hockey player Jack Jablonski on the page at Twitter confessed to his unconventional orientation.

— To my friends, supporters and everyone who has come across my story. Over the past 10+ years, adjusting to my “new normal” and living with paralysis has been difficult both publicly and privately. Luckily, I have been given tremendous support, you all have played such a significant role in my journey. But that’s not the reason for this post.

I went from confusion to disbelief, denial, repression, acceptance and happiness. This process was extremely difficult and lonely. I’m proud of who I am and ready to share that I’m gay.

I could not fully understand my feelings and thoughts. I was an athlete, I grew up surrounded by an honest, male world. I began to feel different and learned everything. Once I got hurt, I focused on recovery, but the burden of my sexuality got heavier and heavier.

I dealt with this on my own for a very long time, but it was eating me up. I am finally in a good mental state and it is time for me to move forward and live my life freely,” Jablonsky wrote.

In 2011, when the hockey player was 16 years old, he played for the school hockey team. Jablonski was injured and paralyzed after a power take to the back.

Jablonsky currently works for the Los Angeles Kings, focusing on the club’s digital media content.
