Russian hockey player told how boxing skills helped him in a fight with Hara during an NHL match
Russian Nashville striker Yakov Trenin admitted that studying boxing theory at the Russian University of Sports GTSOLIFK helped him in a fight against the Slovak Islanders defender Zdeno Hara.
The teams met in December 2021 as part of the NHL regular season.
– You became famous not only for your game, but also for the legendary fight with the two-meter Slovakian Zdeno Hara from Boston, when you almost knocked him out. Isn’t it a shame that when you search the Internet for hockey player Trenin, they give out this particular fight, and not goals?
– In that situation, it was not I who started the fight – he grabbed me by the neck from behind. Well, everyone saw what happened next. Well hit, it was useful to study the theory. But seriously, I hope that soon there will be more videos of goals. Although the memories of that fight still remained. And hockey fans always like fights.
– You said the theory came in handy …
– I studied at the RGUFK at the boxing department. I didn’t manage to get into hockey, I went into boxing. But there we went through the theory, they didn’t teach me how to fight (laughs). This is where the theory comes in handy.
– Can I say that you are quick-tempered by nature?
No, I’m calm. It’s just that sometimes there are emotions, and you can’t allow an opponent to offend partners, ”Rossiyskaya Gazeta quotes Trenin as saying.
