Ovechkin Hockey Academy will appear in Moscow
The Alexander Ovechkin International Hockey Academy will be built in the Moscow district of Khoroshevo-Mnevniki, according to the website of the mayor of the capital.
As part of the investment project, an ice arena building will appear, as well as a complex for temporary residence, recovery and rehabilitation of athletes. The area of the object will be more than 43 thousand square meters.
– The city and business are jointly developing a sports infrastructure in the capital that can satisfy the needs of both amateurs and professional athletes. The City Property Department leased a land plot to the Alexander Ovechkin International Hockey Academy LLC without bidding for five years.
During this time, an ice arena building with an area of more than 20,000 square meters should be erected in Khoroshevo-Mnevniki, as well as a temporary residence complex for athletes with a recovery and rehabilitation center, – said Maxim Gaman, head of the capital’s department of city property.
Ovechkin is a 2018 Stanley Cup winner with the Washington Capitals and a three-time world champion (2008, 2012, 2014). The Russian takes third place in the list of the best snipers in the history of the NHL.

After defeating Denmark with a score of 6:2, the Finnish team also defeated Latvia with a score of 8:0. The Latvian team, which was only defeated by Canada in extra time, did not have the strength to cope with another strong opponent.

The third day of matches in the elite league of the U-20 World Youth Hockey Championship has started.
