Dynamo Moscow hockey player Wil explained that good players go to play in the KHL because they don’t want to play “NHL political games”

Dynamo Moscow forward Jordan Weale believes that many good hockey players come to play in the Continental Hockey League (KHL) and not in the NHL, as they are not satisfied with the game policy in the North American league.

Wil played in the NHL from 2015 to 2020 for the Los Angeles Kings, Philadelphia, Arizona and Montreal. In 2021, the Canadian forward moved to Ak Bars Kazan. In July of this year, the 30-year-old striker was traded to Dynamo Moscow.

– In that season, when I was changed three times in the NHL, I had even better statistics. It’s funny how it goes. I think when you are 27 years old, in the NHL you are already expendable for clubs. They love their youth. I think that season in Philadelphia I showed my best hockey. Then he went to Montreal, where he also performed successfully. It’s just that when you get older and play on a small contract, it’s really hard for you. You don’t play the best couple of matches, and your place is taken by a young player. You will be patient only if you have a salary of 5-6 million dollars. In that sense, it’s a tough league. Therefore, so many good players are going to Russia and Europe who should play in the NHL. They just got tired of playing these NHL political games.

Yes, I mean the politics of the game. I enjoyed playing there, got to play with a lot of incredible players, met incredible people, made friends on every team I played. Wouldn’t trade it for anything, it was awesome. I played four or five years in the NHL, it’s great. I am happy with everything. If they told me at the age of eight that I would play five seasons in the NHL, I would be very happy. Now I want to play hockey, have fun, win matches and take a couple of championship titles. Here we are building a team for many years, because we have a lot of young guys. I think it will be interesting, – quotes Wil “Championship”.

With the White and Blues, Wil played 13 games in the NHL regular season, scored one goal and made eight assists.
