Traktor head coach Anvar Gatiyatulin called the bronze medal in the 2021/22 season in the KHL a worthy result for the club, according to him, the Chelyabinsk team has come a long way to achieve this result.
– Traktor won bronze medals at the end of this season. What kind of ebb are they for you?
Any medal must be won. We have come a long way, we have taken a step forward compared to last season. Of course we wanted more. Nevertheless, I consider this medal a worthy result. I would like, first of all, to thank the governor of the Chelyabinsk region Alexei Leonidovich Teksler, who is constantly involved in the process, is interested in the affairs of Traktor and actively participates in the life of the club. This support is the foundation on which the result is built. And, of course, our fans. They are always there, where we did not play the team.
– The Lokomotiv players admitted that they could not cope with the pressure of expectations. Everyone was waiting for them, if not the cup, then the final. After the summer selection, Traktor also became a favorite. Have your players done this?
Much has been written and talked about it. The guys and I immediately agreed that we would not pay attention to this hype. The main thing is to do our job, and when spring comes, then we’ll see where we have come. We have made a good selection. I would like to mention the general director of the club Ivan Savin, the scouting department headed by the sports director Evgeny Tsybuk, and thank the coaching staff for the work done.
— In the end, this pressure was reflected in the game in the playoffs? Maybe there was some kind of bondage?
– There was a lot of information. There was pressure, of course. In the playoffs, what we planned, we did up to a certain point. There are certain reasons, but I don’t want them to sound like excuses from my lips, ”Gatiyatulin told Sport24.
In the Gagarin Cup, Traktor reached the semi-finals, where they lost 1-4 in the series to Metallurg Magnitogorsk.
