Metallurg head coach Ilya Vorobyov answered a question about the possible retirement of goalkeeper Vasily Koshechkin.
On Saturday, April 30, the Magnitogorsk club lost to CSKA (1:4, 3-4 – in the series) in the seventh match of the Gagarin Cup final series.
– Such a playoff from Koshechkin may push him to the idea that it is worth continuing his career.
“Vasya is an adult boy,” Vorobyov is quoted by Match TV. – Now he will rest – he will boil off. Right now, these issues are not resolved.
Will you somehow persuade him? Because the situation with goalkeepers in the market is difficult.
– Vasya will decide. He is not 18 years old, so I persuaded him to stay. He has a family, children. How will he feel, do you know what a player is after 35 years? I want to tell you how we played in Pittsburgh before the World Cup and the coaching staff decided to take a walk along the embankment. So out of five people, only two made it. The rest were professional hockey players. Someone has a pelvis, someone has a knee.
In the current playoffs, 39-year-old Koshechkin has played 24 matches and won 13 victories.
