Finnish hockey players from the KHL clubs will not be called up to the national team if their game practice in the Russian league becomes known, said general manager of the Finnish national team Jere Lehtinen.

Lehtinen also commented on the situation with forward Miro Aaltonen. The player left the Vityaz squad, but on Sunday it became known that he had signed a contract with Avtomobilist.

– Regarding yesterday’s news: Aaltonen is not going to Russia next season. The contract will be renegotiated with the player and his agent. The process of terminating a deal is a matter of days or even hours. The position of the Finnish Hockey Association is transparent – Finnish hockey players playing in Russia will not be able to play for the national team next season, Lehtinen said.

At the last Czech stage of the Eurotour, the Finnish team took second place after Sweden. From May 5 to May 8, the team will perform at the Swedish stage of the tournament.
