Great comeback. Ukraine came back from 1:4 down and won in overtime at the U-20 World Cup
The Ukrainian youth team played its third match in Division 1B at the U-20 World Hockey Championship.
After two rather calm victories, the Ukrainian team beat Italy 5:4 with great difficulty in extra time. The second period ended in failure for Ukraine U-20, in which the opponent scored three goals.
In the third 20 minutes, Ukrainian hockey players made a comeback. At first it was not possible to convert the majority of 5 to 3, but then Sidorenko took penalties. After that, the same Sidorenko violated the rules twice in a row, but in the second case Ukraine scored in the minority. Stetsyura converted the opponent’s goal with 4:4.
Unfortunately, it was not possible to pressure his opponent in normal time, but Sidorenko scored the winning goal in overtime and completed a hat-trick.
A victory in overtime gives Ukraine only two points, so the leader in the points table is Slovenia, with whom the Ukrainians will close out the tournament.
On Friday, Italy will face Slovenia and the Ukrainians will face Croatia.
