Three-time world hockey champion Alexey Tereshchenko believes that Washington Capitals forward Ivan Miroshnichenko is able to gain a foothold in the main team of the capital team after his NHL debut.
On Wednesday, Washington beat the New York Islanders in overtime (3:2 OT). The 19-year-old Russian played his first NHL game, receiving 10 minutes of playing time. The forward did not score points, but made two shots on target and made three power moves. Miroshnichenko played in the third line along with Evgeny Kuznetsov and Matthew Phillips.
– Vanya deserved this NHL debut with his work and play in the AHL. This is why he came to the USA. Considering Washington’s problems, Miroshnichenko can gain a foothold in the team’s core. Everything should work out for him,” Tereshchenko told RT.
This season, Miroshnichenko played 27 matches for Hershey (AHL), scoring 15 (8+7) points with a utility indicator of “+13”.
