A gas leak during a hockey tournament in the Czech Republic sent 10 children to the hospital, reports iDnes.cz.

On Thursday, firefighters evacuated sixty people from the stadium in Litvinov due to a carbon monoxide leak. Ten children under the age of ten were examined by doctors and sent to hospitals by ambulance.

– The leader of our team is a policeman, he immediately called the police, fire brigade and ambulance, and they completed the tournament, they did not play the last match. The children did not lose consciousness, but they vomited. At first we thought it was from some kind of food,” said Zdenek Zima, spokesman for the Litvinov youth teams.

World champion Robert Kisela, whose son attended the tournament as a participant, noted that the condition of the injured children was improving.

— The guys were more tired than usual, some of them vomited in the locker room, they were sick. Paramedics then took someone to the hospital. As far as I know, their condition is improving.

I’d rather take it [своего сына] to be examined, but he convinced me that there was nothing wrong with him, he just had a headache. Firefighters and paramedics arrived immediately and they really did a great job. We are grateful to them. Those who were in the stands were fine,” Kisela said.
