Lawyers for Canadian NHL hockey players Carter Hart (Philadelphia goalkeeper), Dillon Dube (Calgary forward), Michael McLeod (New Jersey forward), Cal Foote (New Jersey defenseman) confirmed that the players have been charged with sexual assault, Sportsnet reports.

Previously, media reported that five Canadian hockey players who played at the 2018 World Youth Championship were ordered to surrender to the police in London (Ontario, Canada). It was noted that they would be charged with sexual assault.

It is also noted that former Ottawa forward Alex Formenton surrendered to police in London on Sunday. Lawyers for the other four hockey players have admitted that the players have been charged with sexual assault, but insist that their clients are innocent.

Hockey Canada has been under public scrutiny since May 2022 after settling a $3.5 million lawsuit from a woman who alleged that eight hockey players, including members of Canada’s 2018 junior national team, sexually assaulted her at a hotel while she was in a state of strong alcoholic intoxication. Earlier it became known that the police are also investigating a case of suspicion of group sexual harassment by players of the Canadian junior team in 2003.
