Avtomobilist defender Vorobiev talks about the fifth match of the series with SKA: “We turned the game around due to the frantic desire of the team”

Avtomobilist defender Kirill Vorobyov said that the Ekaterinburg club beat St. Petersburg SKA in the fifth match of the quarterfinal series of the Gagarin Cup due to great desire.

The meeting took place in St. Petersburg and ended with a score of 5:4 in favor of the guests. Avtomobilist won the series with a score of 4–1.

— How did you manage to turn the game around when you missed three in a row?

— Due to the frantic desire of the team. They understood that there was only one step left to pass the SKA. And we gave a piece of ourselves, a piece of our souls for victory. The whole team are just heroes. One might say, they did the almost impossible. All handsome!

— What are your impressions of the series? What was the key?

— The series, like with Kazan, was very difficult. But the guys did a great job. This is a shared achievement of the team, the coaching staff, the city, and the fans. The key is probably to play patiently. Because they understood that SKA has a lot of skilled guys. We had to endure a lot, but the guys managed.

– Who will be more interesting to play with in the next round – Spartak or Magnitogorsk?

— We do not select an opponent. We will restore our strength and prepare for the next series. And whoever comes out is the one we will play with. There are no preferences. To win something, you need to win against strong opponents in any case. We will wait for the team to come to us.

— Who and what surprises you in the Gagarin Cup?

— I won’t say that it’s surprising, but I’m very glad that the Ural teams are Chelyabinsk and we advanced further. I think this is a big step for Sverdlovsk hockey. All series are combat. Chelyabinsk showed incredible character, defeating Dynamo with such a score in the series, of course (4:0 – Ed.), – Metaratings.ru quotes Vorobyov.

The Ekaterinburg team became the second semi-finalist of the Gagarin Cup after Chelyabinsk Traktor. Avangard and Lokomotiv, as well as Metallurg and Spartak, continue to fight for the remaining two spots in the semi-finals.
