Severstal forward Danil Aimurzin said that he was surprised by the elimination of Ak Bars Kazan and CSKA Moscow in the first round of the Gagarin Cup.
CSKA lost to Yaroslavl’s Lokomotiv, Ak Bars lost to Avtomobilist from Yekaterinburg. Both series ended 1–4.
– I was surprised. I didn’t think at all that they would fly out. The clubs are starting to level off, and now there are no championship teams. There are clubs that start over with a new leaf and produce results. The league is leveling out and this is very good, because it has become more interesting to watch. Now it’s unclear what will happen in each episode,” Metaratings.ru quotes Aimurzin as saying.
