“Zavarukhin is a good and demanding coach. You need to do everything, then you will play” – Avtomobilist hockey player

Avtomobilist forward Vasily Filyaev spoke about working under the leadership of the team’s current head coach Nikolai Zavarukhin.

The team from Yekaterinburg in the quarterfinals of the Gagarin Cup defeated St. Petersburg SKA in five matches (4-1 in the series) and for the first time made it to the ½ finals of the Fonbet KHL Championship playoffs, where they will meet with Metallurg.

— A good coach, demanding. You need to do everything, then you will play.

– Severe and fair?

– Yes Yes!

— What if you say something about style?

– Don’t know. Orekhovsky is responsible for our defense, and Vorobiev is responsible for the attack. Everyone brings their own vision to the game little by little.

— An interesting moment: when you score a goal, Nikolai Nikolaevich only beats fists with Vladimir Anatolyevich. Is this just superstition?

– I don’t even know. But yes, you made the right point. And the camera is always pointed at them. It’s cool, yes,” Metaratings.ru quotes Filyaev as saying.

49-year-old Zavarukhin took over the team in November 2021 after the dismissal of Canadian Bill Peters.
