The sports director of Siberia commented on Gatiyatulin’s refusal to head the club

Sports director of the Sibir hockey club Viktor Merkulov spoke about Anvar Gatiyatulin’s refusal to take the post of head coach of the team.
At the end of March, Siberia announced that it had reached an agreement with Gatiyatulin. On April 5, the club announced that Gatiyatulin refused to take over as head coach.
— Regarding the situation with Gatiyatulin, everything has already been said, everything is long gone. It so happened that the person simply changed his mind. Happens! We parted on a normal working relationship, the situation is unpleasant, but life goes on. They announced it before signing the contract, as our manager said, because hands were shaken, they hoped for an honest word,” Merkulov told the Championship.
On May 1, Siberia announced the appointment of Vadim Epanchintsev to the position of head coach. A two-year contract was signed with the specialist.
Last season, Sibir took 10th place in the Eastern Conference standings of the Fonbet KHL Championship and did not make it to the playoffs.
