The Swiss national team defeated Canada in a shootout in the semifinal match of the World Hockey Championship, which takes place in the Czech Republic.

The main time of the match ended with the score 2:2. The Canadians responded to goals from Kevin Fiala and Nino Niederreiter with accurate shots from Brandon Tanev and John Tavares.

There were no goals scored in overtime, and Switzerland won the shootout with a score of 2:1.

The Swiss team has made it to the finals of the championship, where it will face the hosts of the tournament, the Czech team. The Canadians will meet Sweden in the bronze medal match. Both matches will take place in Prague on May 26.
