Four Russian hockey players were selected in the first round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.
Montreal selected Russian forward Ivan Demidov in the draft. The forward from SKA-1946 was drafted by the Canadian club under the fifth number.
Defenseman Anton Silaeviz of Nizhny Novgorod’s Torpedo was drafted by the American club New Jersey under number ten.
Russian forward Egor Surin from the Yaroslavl Lokomotiv system was drafted by the American club Nashville under number 22.
Forward from Muskegon (Michigan, USA) Matvey Gridin was drafted by the Canadian club Calgary under number 28.
The next National Hockey League (NHL) draft is taking place in Las Vegas on Friday night. Teams select promising players and receive the rights for them to play in the league.
