“Merkley is a good reinforcement of Avtomobilist’s attacking potential” – two-time Gagarin Cup winner Konkov

Former Minsk Dynamo forward Nick Merkley will strengthen Avtomobilist’s attacking potential, said two-time Gagarin Cup winner Sergei Konkov.
The Yekaterinburg club announced the signing of a contract with Merkley on Tuesday. The agreement with the 27-year-old hockey player is for two years. The Minsk club received monetary compensation.
— Nick Merkley was the leader of Minsk Dynamo. I believe that his departure was a loss for the Belarusian team. And Avtomobilist, in turn, strengthened its attack line. It found a good legionnaire adapted to the Russian league. This is a good reinforcement of the attacking potential of the Ural team, — Konkov told RB Sport.
Merkley has played for Dynamo since 2022. Last season, Merkley played 65 games in the KHL regular championship and scored 32 points (16 goals and 16 assists). In six playoff games, he has 4 (3+1) points.
The new KHL season starts on September 3.

After defeating Denmark with a score of 6:2, the Finnish team also defeated Latvia with a score of 8:0. The Latvian team, which was only defeated by Canada in extra time, did not have the strength to cope with another strong opponent.

The third day of matches in the elite league of the U-20 World Youth Hockey Championship has started.
The Swedish team, which started the tournament with a difficult victory against Slovakia, defeated the Swiss team with a score of 3-2 today. And again there were difficulties for one of the favorites.
