Shchitov: “Right now I don’t see any point in new teams appearing in the KHL”

Former Sochi defenseman Nikita Shchitov said that he sees no point in the emergence of new clubs in the Continental Hockey League (KHL).

— I think that if anyone should join the KHL, it is Novokuznetsk Metallurg. It needs to be strengthened and brought to the KHL, because it is a club with a good history, which has given the world many alumni. I would also like to see Perm Molot in the KHL. It is a team of a decent level. But I do not know if this is possible. There are many clubs in the KHL. Is it possible to recruit quality players there, will there be enough of them? If Barys or Kunlun leave us, then these guys may still be enough. Right now, I do not see the point in the appearance of new teams in the KHL, — RB Sport quotes Shchitov as saying.

The new season of the FONBET KHL Championship starts on September 3.
