“After the introduction of a hard salary cap, every team has leaders, there are no easy opponents left” – CSKA defender Samorukov

CSKA defender Dmitry Samorukov believes that there are no easy opponents left in the FONBET Continental Hockey League (KHL) Championship.

On August 1, it became known that CSKA signed a three-year contract with Samorukov. The hockey player played for the army team in the 2020/21 season, played 48 matches, scored two goals and made six assists. The 25-year-old Russian played three matches in the NHL for the Edmonton Oilers and St. Louis Blues.

— In your opinion, has the league changed much?

— Yes, everything has leveled out now. Previously, the teams that would go for the cup were clearly visible. This is less than half. After the introduction of a hard salary cap, each team has leaders, star players. There are no easy opponents left. Previously, there were many defensive styles of play, passive, waiting for a mistake. Now they want to move more, go on the attack. The speed is increasing, — Samorukov said in an interview with “Championship”.

The new KHL season starts on September 3.
