Sushinsky speculated why Razin led hockey players off the ice at a preseason tournament
Former Russian national team forward Maxim Sushinsky assessed the decision of Metallurg head coach Andrei Razin to take the hockey players off the ice in the match with Neftekhimik after the referees did not send off Roman Abrosimov for injuring Daniil Vovchenko.
On Wednesday, in the Ivan Romazan Memorial match between Metallurg and Neftekhimik, Vovchenko was hit by Abrosimov and fell unconscious on the ice. The Metallurg hockey player was taken off the ice on a stretcher in a special fixing device. After reviewing the video replay, the referees did not see any violation of the rules by Abrosimov. The Urals head coach Razin took the team to the locker room, and Metallurg was awarded a technical defeat.
“It is difficult to assess Razin’s actions, since we do not know the whole background. Perhaps, having realized that one of the hockey players had received a serious injury, he did not want others to get injured as well. Andrei probably considered Abrasimov’s actions to be excessively rude. Only he can answer this question,” Sushinsky told RT.
After the game, Razin wrote on his Telegram channel that he does not consider “people whose priority is to ‘kill’ an opponent rather than score a goal” to be hockey players. He explained the decision to take the players off the ice by saying that he “could not allow the game to turn into a brawl,” since the Metallurg players would have sought revenge for their injured teammate during the remainder of the match.
The new season of the FONBET KHL Championship starts on September 3.

Storm hockey club announced its decision to suspend participation in the Ukrainian Championship. The Odessa team had not come to the Krizhinka match before.
At the same time, Storm denied that the issue was related to financial problems and expressed distrust of the Ukrainian Hockey Federation.

“Due to systematic violation of the principles of equality and justice in competitions, Shtor hockey club expressed its distrust in the leadership of the Ukrainian Hockey Federation and decided to suspend its participation in the Ukrainian Championship.”
There was already a situation this season when Krizhinka suspended its participation in the championship due to referee problems.

Junior World Hockey Championship. Great comeback from the USA, 9 goals and hat-trick from Canada
Another day of play in the elite league of the World Junior Hockey Championship has ended.
The USA team beat Slovakia with a score of 6:5, with big problems. The host team of the tournament lost 0:2 and 1:3 but managed to come back and win.
Forward Tomas Hrenko scored a double for the Slovaks, scoring three goals in the last match. And the Americans have a double thank you to James Hagens.
USA and Sweden are leaders in the group with 9 points.
In the other group, Canada beat Denmark 9-1, while forward Gavin McKenna is expected to score a hat-trick and become number 1 in the 2026 draft.
In another match, the Czech Republic defeated Finland 2:1 in overtime.
