“The guys fought bone to bone” – Titov on the match between SKA-1946 and Lokomotiv in the first round of the MHL
SKA-1946 head coach German Titov believes that his team’s match with Lokomotiv at the start of the new OLIMPBET Youth Hockey League (MHL) Championship season was tough.
The match took place on September 1 in St. Petersburg and ended with a score of 4:1 in favor of the current holder of the Kharlamov Cup, SKA-1946. Lokomotiv is the finalist of the cup last season.
— It was a tough game, but we expected it because Loko always plays good hockey. We played great and deservedly won. I expected the game to have the character of a playoff. The guys fought tooth and nail. Loko proved that they were undeserved to lose in the Kharlamov Cup final, and we proved that it was no coincidence that we won it. In the first period, we slightly underestimated our opponent, who entered the game very well. But in the second and third, I think, we played well.
The game was a continuation of the final, but both teams changed their lineups. But the fight continued. All the guys who came to the team understand the vertical of our work. Of course, they still have a lot of work to do. Each team has its own requirements, Titov told RB Sport.
