Father of hockey players Pavel and Valeri Bure dies in US at 74

As Match TV has learned, Vladimir Bure, a four-time Olympic medalist in swimming, a two-time Stanley Cup winner as the coach of the New Jersey Devils, and the father of hockey players Pavel and Valeri Bure, died in Miami on Tuesday at the age of 74.

Several weeks ago, Vladimir Bure was swimming in the ocean and had a heart attack. He was hospitalized, the former athlete complained of severe pain in his heart. Bure Sr. had previously suffered a stroke.

Vladimir Bure is a silver and three-time bronze medalist of the Olympic Games in swimming, two-time silver medalist of the World Championships, and European champion in the relay.

Vladimir Bure won two NHL championships as the New Jersey Devils’ strength and conditioning coach in 2000 and 2003. He also served as CSKA Moscow’s vice president from 2010 to 2012.
