Florida’s Russian goalie Sergei Bobrovsky deservedly won the Stanley Cup, said Kunlun Red Star defenseman Adam Clendening.

The hockey players played together as part of Columbus.

— Columbus also stopped Nikita Kucherov, who was having a historic season for Russian players. Did John Tortorella pay special attention to him during his preparation?

– No, it was more about teamwork then. We had a great goalkeeper. Bob [Сергей Бобровский] was one of the best goalies in the world back then, and this year he won the Stanley Cup. He deserved it, he was great in Columbus. He had another incredible season this year. We all trusted the system back then. We knew we had to play a certain way to have our chance. And that’s what happened. We scored timely goals, took advantage of the power play. Everything worked out in our favor,” Clendening told “Championship.”

In June, Bobrovsky won the Stanley Cup as part of Florida. The Panthers defeated Edmonton (4–3) in the playoff finals. Bobrovsky will turn 36 on September 20.
