“It’s amazing what Ovechkin is doing at this age in the NHL” – former coach of the Russian national team Zakharkin
Former Russian national team coach Igor Zakharkin admitted that he admires Russian Washington forward Alexander Ovechkin.
The Russian forward ranks second in the list of best snipers in the NHL regular championships (863 goals), second only to Canadian Wayne Gretzky (894).
— I’m afraid to jinx it, I don’t want to answer the question whether Ovechkin will break Gretzky’s record or not. I simply admire what Sasha is doing at this age, his enthusiasm, dedication, and leadership qualities as a club captain. I’m just happy and enjoying watching his performances,” RB Sport quotes Zakharkin.
This season, 39-year-old Ovechkin scored 18 (10+8) points in 14 regular season matches.
