Ovechkin’s pass helped Washington defeat Colorado, Nichushkin returned to the ice
The Washington Capitals hockey players beat the Colorado Avalanche on the road in a regular season match of the National Hockey League.

Washington’s Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin gave one assist. This allowed him to close the gap with Ray Bourque on the list of top scorers in NHL history. Ovechkin ranks 13th with 1,570 points. Bourke has 1,579 scoring points. The record belongs to Wayne Gretzky, who has 2857 points.
Valery Nichushkin took to the ice as part of Colorado, who spent six months taking a course in the NHL Player Assistance Program and only this month was allowed to train with the team. Nichushkin did not score any points.
