Russian Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin became the first player in the history of the National Hockey League (NHL) to score 11 goals in a stretch of 10 regular season games at the age of 39 or older.
On Sunday, Ovechkin scored a hat-trick in a game against the Vegas Golden Knights (5:2).
This season, the 39-year-old striker scored 23 (13+10) points in 17 regular season games.
Ovechkin has been playing for Washington since 2005. He ranks second in the list of best snipers in the NHL regular season (866 goals), second only to Canadian Wayne Gretzky (894).
